A question?

Let me ask you a question. Were you ever been confused? operating a device, mobile phone, your new juicer, trying to operate an ATM machine or one of those kiosks at the bank or at the airport, or even navigating through an app, trying to find that button or a switch, to make it work, to make it do exactly what you want it to do? Have you ever been in a situation like that? Most of us have been there, it happens to the best of us. Now tell me, in a situation like that have you ever wondered if the fault was with you or with the device or the app or the machine?

Let me tell you something, the fault is most certainly with the machine. You ask why? its simple, its because we, humans, have been in existence far more than those machines, heck we created them. And we, humans operate or exist in a certain way, our eyes and body feeds surrounding information to our brain in a certain way, sometimes knowingly and sometimes subconsciously, but we do operate in a certain way. What is not certain and can change or should change are the machines and how they should interact with us, humans. No am not talking about artificial intelligence nor this ain’t any premise to a sci-fi thriller. All am saying is we can built machines and devices with beautiful and intuitive interfaces to communicate with us smoothly to help us operate them for the reason they’ve been built for.

And yes, only design can help us achieve this. A good, clean, user interface design can make any device function optimal and enhance it’s user experience.
